About Me

Carrie Lyon

Rural Change Maker

Booshoo, Carrie Lyon N’indishinikaaz.
I am a cis-gendered Oji-Cree ikwe from Bearskin Lake First Nation which is a reservation located on the Severn River in Treaty #9. I grew up and reside in Sioux Lookout located on Treaty #3.

I quit school when I was 14 years old, but it never stopped my go-getter character, so I have worked full time for over 12 years in a multitude of different pathways from the food industry to carpentry to pharmaceuticals & health care. Today I am back in school working towards my OSSD while working two jobs.

I am passionate about healthy lifestyles, social engagement, and creating art. I spend my down time with my girlfriend, my two dogs and we usually get outside and move no matter the weather. I’m excited to participate in this program to the best of my ability and to start something new!
