About Me
Dakota Derosier
Rural Change Maker
As the community liaison with Wataynikaneyap Power, my role is to engage with community membership and leadership; co-workers, chief and council and attend meetings both physical and virtual. Engagement with community members and co-workers regarding land use/development and taking on or teaming up on projects that benefit the community. A few examples are the undertaking of an FM radio project, a solar farm, and the potential for a bio-mass fuel generator.
I took the role in late February coming from a different industry working in health care, working in pharmaceutical. I have been on the job approximately two months and have been learning lots in this industry. I have plenty of ideas soon as we are connected to three phase power. I want to see development of the infrastructures both new and existing, and I want to see more development of residential neighborhoods and an industrial sector for manufacturing.
My favorite part of my position is traveling for meetings and networking. Physical and virtual meetings are important to maintain and grow relationships and connections with new and meaningful contacts.
As well as the positive impact I pose on the future of my community pushing forward bettering ourselves each day.
I have Completed secondary high school in Dryden ON. Then I moved onto post-secondary as a mature student at the age of 21. I graduated in 2016 with an Ontario College Diploma (OCD) and then returned for following year graduating in 2017 for the bridging program offering a 3rd year, and I received an Ontario College Advance Diploma (OCAD).
Generating electricity for the north brings light and hope for the future. This project brings inspiration for future endeavors for partnerships and progress for all of us here in the north, both far and wide. My interests are in learning financial education being financially literate and sharing that knowledge to all I can and teaching younger ones about responsible money spending hobbits, financial saving plans/retirement plans, and early investment strategies for wealth portfolio building.
Our people have never had any financial historians helping our people with generational wealth building, and I would like to change that.
