Rural Change Maker
My name is Kayla Portugie. I’m a bilingual 21-year-old female whose pronouns are She/Her and I am currently living in the city of Timmins, Ontario where I was born and raised. I work full-time as a Financial Services Officer at Caisse Alliance. Apart from my 9-5, I spend the majority of my evenings as a tutor at the Timmins Learning Center. Also, I am a part of the Youth Advisory Committee with the Timmins Youth Wellness Hub. My goal with the Rural Change Makers program is to build the connections necessary while expanding my knowledge to make the city of Timmins a community where our youth of tomorrow can thrive while having the freedom and safety to do so.
Rural Revitalization and Harm Reduction Initiative
Bringing the community/city together to maintain and be active participants for cleaner recreational (park) environment. Promoting safety and harm reduction in our community especially within local parks.
My goal is to build the connections necessary while expanding my knowledge to make the city of Timmins a community where our youth of tomorrow can thrive while having the freedom and safety to do so.
