On June 28, Delhi Park overflowed with colour, laughter, and connection as Prince Edward County came together for Greater Than County Youth Collective’s 4th annual Pride in the Park, co-organized with the Picton BIA. From the rainbow-lined sidewalks to the joyful crowd in the park, this year’s Pride was a powerful reminder of what happens when a community shows up with love and solidarity.
Pride in the Park began just a few years ago as a grassroots effort by local youth and allies who wanted to create a safe, visible, and joyful space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people in Prince Edward County. Each celebration has built on the last, with more partners, activities, and community members showing up every time. What started as a small youth gathering has grown year by year into one of the County’s most anticipated Pride Month events.
At its heart, the event has always been about visibility, belonging, and joy. It stands as a reminder that Prince Edward County is not only a place of beauty and community spirit, but also a place where love, diversity, and inclusion can thrive.
A Sidewalk Takeover to Remember
Downtown Picton was buzzing as the Sidewalk Takeover kicked off the day. Community members, youth, and allies filled Main Street with flags, unicorns, joy, and music. While we had hoped to host a full parade this year, we were deeply appreciative of the 200+ community members who came out to participate and make the takeover such a vibrant success. It wasn’t just a march—it was visibility in action. People paused to wave, cheer, honk, and join in, making it clear that Pride belongs on our streets as much as in our hearts.

Community Engagement Like Never Before
Once the crowd gathered at Delhi Park, the celebration continued with something for everyone. Families and friends cooled off with snowcones and popcorn, while many enjoyed grab-and-go bagged lunches that kept energy high throughout the afternoon. Kids and youth joined in yard games and activities, while audiences were dazzled by drag queens Uma and Selma Gahd’s performances and storytime that brought joy, laughter, and plenty of applause. Resource and activity tables gave people the chance to connect with local organizations, learn about supports, and celebrate Pride together. From stage performances to spontaneous moments of connection, the day truly reflected the inclusive, vibrant, and deeply engaged spirit of Prince Edward County.

Gratitude to our Supporters
Behind every banner, activity, and performance were the generous donors, sponsors, and community partners who helped make this day possible. Your contributions ensured Pride in the Park was more than an event—it was a safe and welcoming space where everyone could belong. We are proud to live in a community where local businesses, organizations, and individuals continue to stand behind 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility and inclusion.
